ONE year after the death of female taxi driver, Indira Bipat, whose body was found in a clump of bushes at Lust-en-Rust, West Bank Demerara, the police are yet to make an arrest.

Senior Police Detective, on Thursday, told the Guyana Chronicle that Bipat’s murder investigation was still open and was on-going.

Bipat, 47, who died as a result of strangulation, compounded by blunt trauma to the head, on May 19, 2019, was said to be seen leaving her home, after she received a phone call.

Her son, had told this newspaper that his mother left home saying she was going out for about an hour or so, but never returned.

He told the Guyana Chronicle that, while he could not say what might have led to her demise, he had the presence of mind to report her missing at the Vreed-en-Hoop and La Grange Police Station, after she did not return home after work.

The Guyana Telephone and Telegraph (GTT) Company has handed over Bipat’s telephone records to the police.
