Rahoma Ramjeet, a single parent of Ogle, East Coast Demerara was yesterday charged with obtaining by false pretence, at the Sparendaam Magistrate’s Court. Particulars of the charge stated that on January 30 at Ogle, Ramjeet fraudulently obtained $25,000 from Yvette Lowe by telling her that the money is an advance for rental of a house.
The woman pleaded not guilty to the charge before magistrate Alex Moore.
Bail was denied Ramjeet as she came into the courtroom in handcuffs. She was asked to make another appearance on April 19.
The officer who brought her to court said that the woman had made several attempts to escape from the police station.
