A driver is in police custody following a fatal accident at Brighton Public Road, Corentyne, Berbice, on Sunday, which claimed the life of a six-year-old boy.

Police reported that at about 19:00h Sunday, the driver of motor car HB 4497 was proceeding along the roadway when it is alleged that Ricardo McBean, of Brighton Village, ran across the road into the path of the vehicle and was struck down.

He was taken to the Port Mourant Hospital where he was pronounced dead on arrival.
