THE APNU+AFC Coalition Campaign Co-Managers have, this week, met with and briefed four missions here to observe the March 2nd General and Regional Elections, the party said in a release on Thursday.
A coalition team, led by Co-Chairs, Lt. Col. Joseph Harmon and Raphael Trotman, along with Campaign Administrator, Dr. Mark Kirton, met with the Commonwealth and Organization of American States missions on Monday, February 24th and Wednesday, February 26th respectively.
The Commonwealth Observer Mission is headed by former Prime Minister of Barbados, the Right Honourable Owen Arthur. The OAS delegation is led by former Jamaica Prime Minister, the Honourable Bruce Golding. Co-Chairs Harmon and Trotman also met with representatives of the CARICOM observer mission, while Harmon and Campaign Executive David Patterson met with the European Union Observer Mission representatives on Wednesday. The APNU+AFC executives briefed the various teams on various matters related to the elections and reaffirmed the Coalition’s commitment to free, fair and peaceful elections in Guyana, while reiterating their commitment to the Ethnic Relations Commission’s Code of Conduct. The officials also expressed, to the various missions, the Coalition’s reservations on the issue of polling stations being located at private residences. All four sessions were cordial and interactive.
