AMEER Khan (no address given) appeared before Sparendaam Magistrate Alex Moore yesterday charged with unlawful wounding, wherein it was alleged that on December 22, 2011, Khan unlawfully and maliciously wounded Mahindra Ramsahoje at Montrose, East Coast Demerara by hitting him in his head. This charge was previously read to the defendant, but it was indictable at the time. After the Administration of Justice Act (AJA) was applied, Khan pleaded not guilty.
The virtual complainant was not present in court, but his mother, who appeared on his behalf, told the court that her son had suffered severe mental damage since the incident, and that he usually wanders off on his own, and she does not know his whereabouts at this time.
The defendant, who had been put on bail when he had first appeared to answer the charge, was asked to return to court on April 3, as the virtual complainant may be informed to make his appearance by that time.
