BRIDGETOWN, Barbados CMC – Red-hot off-spinner Sunil Narine is among 30 players expected to arrive here yesterday to begin a two-week training camp in preparation for the upcoming Australia series. The Trinidadian, who made his One-Day International debut against India in Ahmedabad last November, will be one of 13 non-contracted players participating in the camp.
Speculation is rife he will be called up for all three forms of the game during the Australia tour which runs from March 16 to April 27.
Narine has been explosive in his first full season of first class cricket, taking 31 wickets in just three matches for Trinidad and Tobago.
Meanwhile fast bowler Tino Best who is one of the non-contracted players and played the last of his 14 Tests almost three years ago, has also been called up, having bowled with pace and hostility to take 14 wickets for Barbados during the current four-day season.
Players will undergo fitness testing starting today at 20:00hrs before the camp starts in earnest under the management of West Indies head coach Ottis Gibson.
