Jules appeared before Justice Sandil Kissoon at the Demerara High Court for murder, but opted to plead guilty to the lesser count of manslaughter.
Orin Jules admitted that on June 18, 2016, at ‘D’ Field Sophia, he murdered his younger brother, 23-year-old Dexter Jules.

According to reports, on June 18, 2016, Orin and his younger brother were involved in a heated argument at their Sophia home. It is alleged that Orin picked up a knife and stabbed his brother several times in his chest. Dexter was pronounced dead on arrival at the Georgetown Public Hospital Corporation.
Orin was apprehended by public-spirited persons and was handed over to the police after they found him hiding in a clump of bushes nearby.
