Confessed cocaine user jailed, fined

MAGISTRATE Allan Wilson sentenced a man to three years imprisonment and fined him $15,000 for trafficking cocaine. Darrow Peters (no address given) pleaded guilty, admitting that, on February 21, he had four grammes of the narcotic in his possession for the purpose.
Police Sergeant Tracymay Gittens, prosecuting, said ranks were conducting an operation at the Fire Station near Stabroek Market in Georgetown, when they stopped the defendant, and a search yielded the drug in a small container under one arm.
The convict claimed he found the container in a garbage bin and decided to keep it.
He confessed that he uses the drug and maintained it was for his own use, to help ease pains in his feet and testicles.
