CONAN Belle, 23, Bartica Regatta’s racing champion, was rushed to the main operating theatre at the Georgetown Public Hospital (GPH) for head surgery, shortly after midnight on Monday. Up to yesterday his condition was said to be critical.
Belle was involved in a CBR motorcycle crash on the Bartica highway on Monday evening, and suffered severe head injuries and fractured limbs.
He was rushed to the Bartica Hospital and then evacuated to the Georgetown.
Reports coming out of the gold-mining town said that Belle, the eldest of three sons for his parents, Stephen and Zenelle Belle, proprietors of Zen’s Hotel, crashed into a heap of scrap iron piled at the roadside, after an unsuccessful bid to negotiate a bend. The accident happened in the vicinity of First Street and Seventh Avenue, Bartica.
