DIGICEL Guyana has done it once again! Their Fifth Anniversary Concert on Friday night saw the thousands gathered mesmerized by popular songs belted out by international artistes the Morgan Heritage Band, songwriter/singer Keri Hilson, I-Octane, and local songbirds Adrian Dutchin and Jomo Primo. This musical inferno occurred at the Guyana National Stadium at Providence, East Bank Demerara, where activities commenced to a prompt start as Adrian Dutchin and Jomo Primo began performing their local hits songs. The crowd responded by jumping up in the air; and, of course, dancing was a feature from the onset, as the duo belted out electrifying soca songs.
Second to perform was I-Octane, singing his hit songs to the great delight of the large crowd from two sections, the general admittance and the VIP, which was packed almost to capacity.
Things proceeded smoothly, and the crowd continued swarming the Guyana National Stadium in their bid to see the colourful performance of Keri Hilson, the musical diva from Atlanta, Georgia, USA. She began singing her hit songs, “Pretty Girl Rock” among others, and those songs, together with the dancers, motivated the huge crowd to dance with more abandon, while simultaneously accompanying the singer with their own loud versions of the songs.
Keri Hilson was a crowd pleaser, and she stole the hearts of her audience as she did her thing on stage. She even invited several ladies onto the stage to dance along with her.
The Digicel mega-concert was well put together; security was in place, there were lots to eat and drink, and the atmosphere was congenital. Prime Minister Samuel Hinds, presently acting as President of Guyana in absence of His Excellency, President Donald Ramotar, graced the event with his august presence.
The premium bar was provided by ANSA McAL, a participant in Digicel’s fifth anniversary celebrations.
As the evening progressed, the large crowd was very hyped, anticipating the performance of the Morgan Heritage band. They came on stage last, and performed many of their hit songs, among which were “Tell me how come”, “Down by the river”, and “Nothing to smile about”, among others.
The huge crowd welcomed the band’s performances, and was very excited to have them perform in Guyana. Everybody danced as Peetah Morgan, the band’s highly favoured singer, belted out songs on Friday night.
Proceedings were incident-free, and came to an end after 04:00 hours on Saturday morning. The satiated crowd was nevertheless reluctant to disperse, their having enjoyed stellar performances by international artistes.
Digicel’s mega-concert delivered deliciously!
