– stolen articles recovered, following robbery attack on East Coast woman
TWO bandits, along with the driver of the motor car they were escaping in, were yesterday nabbed by police on the East Coast of Demerara, following a robbery they committed on a woman walking along the LBI Access Road, also on the East Coast of Demerara. The police, in a statement, said the incident occurred around 11:30hrs, yesterday, when Accounts Clerk, Sarsawattie Singh, 49 years of Foulis, Enmore, East Coast Demerara, was walking along the LBI Access Road. She was confronted by two men who reportedly threw her to the ground and took away her jewellery valued at $210,000, and her hand-bag with $5,000 and escaped.
The police responded quickly to the report received, with mobile patrols being alerted. This resulted in ranks of a TSU patrol, acting on information received, stopping a motor car some distance from the scene and arresting the driver and two other male occupants.
The two men were searched and all the articles stolen from Sarsawattie Singh were found in their possession. They have also been identified as the perpetrators by the victim.
The two suspects along with the driver, who all hail from Georgetown, are in police custody. Charges will be laid shortly.
