Dear Editor,
I refer to a letter by Mr. Vishm Bisram that says ‘regrettably the government of Guyana signed a royalty clause that gives away the country’s prime assets.’ (KN 2/9/19).
Mr. Bisram, a known Jagdeo-Ali supporter, did not say which “government” but he should know that in 1999, the royalty that the former People’s Progressive Party (PPP) government accepted was one-half of a percent.
In addition, Mr. Bisram must have known of Mr. Jagdeo’s promise to give Venezuela a “Channel” that leads right into all of our off-shore oil deposits in the Atlantic. I have every hope that down the road Guyana will get a portion of oil wealth that will make all of our people happy. We are starting small, but will grow big!
Regards
