THE Prosecution in the Stewartville murder case voir dire conducted by Justice Franklyn Holder closed its case yesterday, making way for the defence to begin its enquiry. Justice Holder had undertaken the voir dire (trial within a trial) to determine admissibility of an alleged caution statement made by the number two accused, Satnanand Sahadeo.
It is understood that Attorney Mr. George Thomas is expected to make submissions in relation to Sahadeo and the statement which he has denied making.
The leading prosecutor, Mrs. Judith Gildharie-Mursalin, who is associated with Miss Retina Singh, called seven witnesses before closing her case in the voir dire.
Attorney Mr. Hukumchand is appearing for Peter Ray Kassim, the number one accused.
The hearing is continuing.
