THE Guyana Police Force (GPF) has commenced an investigation into the finances of the Guyana Cricket Board (GCB), Minister of Home Affairs, Mr. Clement Rohee disclosed yesterday. “As for cricket, sweet cricket, I have written to the Commissioner of Police requesting that the GPF conduct an immediate investigation into the affairs of the GCB. There is a general belief that everything is not ‘honky-dory’ in respect of the financial activities of the GCB,” he told a press conference.
Rohee said there are certain documents which have to be perused, in order to ascertain the extent to which this situation obtains in the activities of the GCB.
“I understand that the investigation has begun and it is my expectation that, as I so requested of the GPF, it will be done,” he said.
Rohee further stated that he is disappointed with the court’s decision to allow the GCB members to get access to the records which could compromise the investigations he has requested.
Assistant Commissioner Leroy Brummel is the Acting Commissioner of Police.
