IT really bothers me to see the government’s efforts to enhance the East Bank Demerara are going to waste.
The East Bank Highway corridor is the only route from the Cheddi Jagan International Airport, to Georgetown. When visitors come to Guyana, this route is the first one they will be travelling and it should be kept clean at all times, because, it’s like the first impression people get of Guyana when they enter the country.
In recent times the parking lot of the National Stadium was being used to host concerts and the aftermath of this is very degrading.
It’s very disturbing to see this multi-million dollar stadium being degraded with large piles of garbage in the drains and on the parapets. Whenever a concert is being held at the stadium it takes weeks before the garbage is removed.
I am calling on the relevant authorities responsible for the stadium to ensure proper mechanisms are in place to dispose of garbage after using the facility.
