THAT the City’s police department has been broken into caused some amount of laughs on Monday when councillors met for their usual statutory meeting at City Hall.
“People laughed me when my office was broken into, but the City’s Police Department has now been broken into,” Mayor Ubraj Narine told councillors.

In an invited comment, the Mayor told Guyana Chronicle that he could not provide details related to the ‘breaking and entering’ as he was yet to be provided a report on the incident.
“I overheard this in the streets. The administration, and heads of departments, all of them need to go home man. They are not doing a good job at all,” the mayor lamented.
It was the City Police Investigation Section (CPIS) that was broken into.
Just recently, thieves broke into Narine’s office and stole files that were said to be important in the running of the City Council. That investigation is ongoing.
