HOUSING Minister, Irfaan Ali, who was recently granted an interim injunction restraining Kaieteur News’ publisher Glenn Lall from printing or publishing, or causing to be printed, certain words contained in the Kaieteur News “about mansion with pool house”, has been ordered by Justice Insanally to file an amended summons. The judge’s order was made yesterday during continuation of the hearing of the summons, when Lawyers Khemraj Ramjattan and Neil Persram, representing the defendants, directed the judge’s attention to a ‘defect’ in the summons, and asked that there be an amended summons.
The matter took place in chambers, where Minister Irfaan Ali was represented by Attorney-at-Law Hukumchand.
At the end of yesterday’s hearing, Attorney Mr. Neil Persram declared that, as a result of their application, the plaintiff had been granted leave to file an amended summons subject to the payment of $50,000 costs. Mr. Persram did not disclose the nature of the ‘defect.’
The matter has been adjourned to February 20th.
