Berbice teenager bitten by Labaria snake

A TEENAGER bitten by a Labaria snake at Rose Hall, Corentyne on Sunday, was on Monday transferred from the New Amsterdam Hospital to the Georgetown Public Hospital in a critical condition. The lad, Devon Marks, of Rose Hall, said he was walking in the backdam on Sunday morning around 10:30 hrs when he was bitten by the snake which was under some dry leaves on which he stepped.
Marks arrived at the Accident and Emergency Unit, groaning and writhing in pains and being moved around in a wheel chair. His left leg was swollen and discoloured and bleeding. Marks said he was told at New Amsterdam Hospital that all the venom from the snake bite had not been removed from the wound.
At the GPHC he was sent to have an X-Ray.
