…as CANU raids two Berbice homes
TWO persons including an ex-police officer who was attached to the Criminal Investigation Department in B Division have been arrested, after ranks of the Customs Anti-Narcotics Unit (CANU) raided his home, located in Number Two Village, East Canje Berbice, on Tuesday.

The Guyana Chronicle understands that 28-year-old Khaushal Grant, a former Detective, was on CANU’s radar for some time. On Tuesday the team descended to his home where a search was conducted early in the morning. A total of 94.347 kilograms of suspected cannabis was found; an equivalent of 207.9 pounds. The Guyana Chronicle was informed by reputable sources that Grant was allegedly preparing to head to the City where the illicit substance is sold and distributed.
Meanwhile, as CANU continues in its effort to tighten its grip on narcotics distributors throughout the country, it also made a second discovery after a successful raid was carried out on a New Amsterdam resident. In a press release CANU stated that Kerry Charles

Grimmond, 34, of Nicolay Street, New Amsterdam, was taken into police custody after a total of 140 grams of suspected cannabis was found in his possession. Both men were arrested and remain in Police custody as investigations continue.
