A 20-year-old man was, on Thursday, May 09, 2019 arraigned before the Suddie Magistrate’s Court for the murder of his step-father, Eyon Williams, who was killed at their Grant Bethany home in Lower Pomeroon, Region Two (Pomeroon-Supenaam)
John Alberts appeared before Magistrate Esther Sam and was not required to plead to the capital offence of murder. It was alleged that, on May 5,2019, at Grant Bethany in Lower Pomeroon, he murdered his step-father, Eyon Williams.
The matter was adjourned until June 6, 2019, and transferred to the Charity Magistrate court.
According to reports, on the day in question, Alberts was imbibing with his cousin when an argument and a fight ensued between them.
Williams, who was around at the time, intervened. It is alleged that he (Williams) took the frame of an old generator and dealt his stepson a lash to his left hand.
Alberts, who was armed with a knife, whipped it out and stabbed his stepfather to the side of his abdomen.
Williams was rushed to the Oscar Joseph Hospital at Charity, where doctors pronounced him dead.
