CHAIRMAN of the board of the National Communications Network (NCN), Enrico Woolford, said matters relating to Member of Parliament, Donna Mathoo, and the Berbice branch of the television station have been dealt with.
Woolford was, on Thursday, responding to questions posed by the Kaieteur News which has been penning several stories regarding the government MP after she was sworn-in at the National Assembly last Friday. She was asked to proceed on leave in 2017 to facilitate an investigation into the financial affairs of the Berbice Branch of NCN.
Woolford noted on Thursday that Mathoo’s employment at NCN is covered by the Company’s Act. He told the Kaieteur News that as far as the board of NCN is concerned, the matter regarding Mathoo has been settled. He said that one can make allegations but that does not suggest that it is guilt.”It’s simple logic,” Woolford said.
Mathoo was appointed NCN Branch Manager for Berbice in August, 2015. In March of 2017, she proceeded on leave to facilitate the investigation into the allegations. Mathoo, who hails from Berbice, was one of four new government Members of Parliament who were sworn-in last week .
