A FARMER who was beaten with an axe-handle to the head by a colleague at Katomarib Village, Rupununi, Region Nine, succumbed on Friday.

Dead is Reginald Thompson, 35, a farmer of Katomarib Village in the Rupununi.
Reports revealed that the victim and the suspect were friends and, on Wednesday last, they were consuming alcohol at the suspect’s home when they got into a heated argument.

During the argument, the suspect armed himself with an axe handle and dealt the victim a lash to his head.

Thompson was picked up in an unconscious state and escorted to the Lethem Public Hospital where he was treated and immediately transferred to the Boa Vista Hospital in Brazil.

However, on Friday, he succumbed to his injuries. Arrangements are being made to have the body brought back to Guyana while the suspect is being sought.
