Nine goals scored as Milo U-18 football continues

A TOTAL of nine goals were scored on the third day of action in the 2019 Milo U-18 schools football tournament yesterday.

Played at the Ministry of Education ground on Carifesta Avenue, the opening encounter between Charlestown Secondary and Tucville was the most thrilling game.
Isaiah Moore, in the 18th minute, put Charlestown ahead before Dante Sookram sent them two clear in the 38th minute.

Tucville. on the other hand. were just getting warmed up, and one minute after Sookram’s strike, Dwayne Jones added his team’s first of the game.

On the surge and looking for a comeback, Tucville forced an error in their opponents back line which resulted in an own goal, bringing the score to 2-0.

In the second match, Golden Grove thumped St Cuthbert’s Mission 2-0.
Jeffrey Charles (32nd) and Andrew Sathwell (64th) were the scorers for Golden Grove.
There was also a win for Cummings Lodge who defeated West Demerara side Uitvlugt 2-1.
Keion Hamer (10th) and Simon Ifill (56th) were on target for the winners with Uitvlugt having Mickel McKend (68th) on target.
Three more matches are carded for today.

Friendship Secondary will battle Ann’s Grove from noon to open the proceedings with Christianburg/Wismar Secondary taking on St John’s College, followed by Vergenoegen Secondary versus Tutorial.

The tournament is sponsored by the Ministry of Public Health under its ‘Stop Gender-based Violence’ campaign.
