An accident at Versailles shortly after 18:00 h yesterday has left a motor car written off, and its driver giving praise to God for sparing his live.
The motor car which was being driven by a man whose name was only given as Andy, was proceeding south along the Versailles Public Road on the East Bank Demerara, heading in the direction of the Demerara Harbour Bridge, when it ran off the road outside the Versailles Television Network, broke a GPL lamp-post, and ended up badly wrecked in a trench.
Relatives on the scene confirmed that the driver was removed from the car alive, but declined to give any other information.
When the Guyana Chronicle arrived on the scene, a tractor was pulling the wrecked car out of the trench, and police were directing traffic which had built up along the roadway.
