A FINE half-century from Ronaldo Baharally propelled Anna Regina Secondary ‘B’ to an 18-run win against Cotton Field Secondary and secured for them a place in the Ramballi/Mahadeo Inter-Secondary School final.
Playing last Saturday at the Reliance ground; Anna Regina Secondary ‘B’ batted first and amassed 159 all-out in 26 overs.
Their total was largely due to an impressive 62 (8×4. 2×6) from Baharally who paced his innings nicely. He was supported by Simon St Hill with 23 (4×4) and Avinash Persaud 20 (2×4). Off-Spinner Abdul Nadir claimed 3-32 from 6 overs while Elias Smith bagged 2-23 (6) bowling medium pace.
In response, Cotton Field Secondary began positively with the openers sharing a 35-run opening stand. However, with their dismissals, wickets began to fall regularly.
A flourishing 55-run partnership for the 6th wicket between Victor Jones 28 (3×4) and Abdul Nadir 22 (2×4) kept the team in the hunt. When they departed, Nicoli Smith with 20 (2×4) kept the score board ticking.
He was the last man out, with Cotton Field Secondary ending on 141 in 27 overs. Ronaldo Baharally capped off an excellent all-round performance by taking 3-19 (6) along with Avic Ramdial 2-14 (4) and Arian Doodnauth 2-17 (6).
Anna Regina Secondary ‘B’ will now await the winner between Aurora and Anna Regina Secondary ‘A’ to be contested on Saturday at the Affiance Number 1 ground.
