THE Meville family living at Capoey, an Amerindian community in Region Two, is in a state of shock after one of their relatives was discovered dead on Monday morning with a knife stuck in his neck.

Dead is 23-year-old Sherwin Meville of Capoey Lake Top, Region Two. He was allegedly murdered early Monday morning by a total stranger. The suspect has since fled the scene and police are on the hunt for him. According to the deceased’s wife, Joyce Meville, her husband was imbibing earlier with relatives. She said that he then left to purchase cigarettes when he met up with a male—a total stranger at a community shop. She said they started to imbibe and he later took him home to sleep at their house. The wife said she was uncomfortable with her husband’s decision to invite a stranger in their home and as such she told him she was going to sleep with their two-month-old baby Shenille by a relative across the street. She then left her husband and the stranger in the house. In the morning around 05:00hrs she went over and discovered the door opened and her husband lying motionless with his throat slashed. She said his pockets were also flapping out indicating he was robbed.

The house where the body was discovered, next to it is the deceased’s incomplete home .

She however said she did not see him and claimed he is from North West. She also claimed the suspect works on a ship on the Island of Wakenaam. The police were called in and are currently investigating.
