SEVERAL youths have been detained as the investigations continue into the multi-million dollar robbery committed at the Dong Fang Trading store at Lot 12 Strand, New Amsterdam, Berbice on Friday last.

On Friday night, just before 20:00hrs after the store was closed for business, Lin Jee went to the back of the store to close a door when he was suddenly confronted by three bandits whose faces were covered with handkerchiefs, and caps.

The intruders armed with two small guns, took their young victim to the upper flat through an inner staircase. But as they did so, they, were confronted by an older Chinese national whom they overpowered. That 46- year–old was tied and gagged, before the bandits demanded that the younger Jee hand over money. The thieves were taken to a bedroom, where two million dollars were handed over to them, as they were leaving they removed three I phones valued US$3600 from a nearby table, before escaping through a hole in the back fence. An alarm was raised but, the bandits escaped. However, following investigations several youth were arrested. The victims are expected to attend an identification parade this week.
