Region Two chairman is calling for road shoulders to be cleared of obstacles

REGION Two Chairman Ali Baksh is calling on the Anna Regina Town Council and Neighbourhood Democratic Councils on the Essequibo Coast to clear obstacles from the shoulders of the main public road. The chairman said he has observed that some residents are throwing garbage, lumber and derelict vehicles on the road shoulders, and are also fencing parts of the road shoulders to plant gardens.
Baksh said the Regional Administration, over the past months, has cleared the road shoulders of obstacles with front-end loaders, in collaboration with the police and officers of the Town Council and NDCS.
Baksh said many rice farmers are also parking trailers and leaving ploughs on the road shoulders. He said that staff from the Works Department of the Regional Democatic Council recently cleared some items from the roadways. The chairman said several sections of the road is now equipped with street lights, and the Regional Administration wants the road shoulders to be free of obstacles and bushes.
