Stallholder charged with brandishing gun on another

ERROL DeFreitas, 36, of Lot 27 Seaforth Street, Campbellville, Georgetown, faced two charges of using abusive language and threatening behaviour yesterday, before Acting Chief Magistrate Priya Sewnarine-Beharry. He pleaded not guilty to both, which said, on October 8, he abused Colin Henry and threatened him, causing a breach of the peace.
Police Sergeant Lionel Harvey, prosecuting, said the defendant also brandished a gun with which he made the threat to shoot Henry.
The prosecutor said the two market stallholders are known to each other and requested that bail be substantial.
Defence counsel Ronald Burch-Smith alleged that the virtual complainant was  constantly discouraging customers from purchasing from the defendant’s stall and making false allegations against him.
DeFreitas was granted self-bail in the abusive language case but ordered to post $40,000 security on the other charge, until October 24.
