Murdered: Tashamedaye Lall

Police are probing the murder of a well-known guest house owner who was shot and killed at his place of business on Wednesday night.

Dead is Tashamedaye Lall, 28, of 181 Tuschen Housing Scheme, East Bank Essequibo.

Police reported that at about 20:45h,Lall was at home with his reputed wife, Annette Henaro, and an employee, John De La Cruz, when two men approached on the pretext of renting a room. As Lall opened the door, the bandits, armed with handguns, barged in and held up the Lall, his wife, and his employee.

Lall’s Guest House at Tuschen where the incident occurred on Wednesday night.

They demanded cash and $45,000 was handed over. Apparently not satisfied, the perpetrators demanded more cash during which John De La Cruz was struck to his head with a firearm. A scuffle ensued between Lall and the robbers during which he was shot in his shoulder and the men escaped.
Lall and La Cruz were taken to the Leonora Cottage Hospital. Lall was pronounced dead on arrival, while La Cruz was treated and sent home.
