Minister Ramsaran inspects renovated Campbellville Health Centre

Minister in the Ministry of Health, Dr. Bheri Ramsaran, yesterday visited the Campbellville Health Centre where he inspected the renovation done to the institution, and called for accountability on the part of the contractor and monitoring by the Health Ministry. This call was made in response to the damage done to the institution’s dental chair and flooding at a section of the premises due to ineffective plumbing. The damaged dental chair has been replaced since dentistry is a service in high demand.
The centre is one of the largest in the city, and provides a number of services, including maternity, antenatal, and counselling, and was renovated to enable it to provide a wider array of services to the community.
Dr. Ramsaran emphasised the need for accountability and monitoring, since the administration is placing significant emphasis on equity of access, quality service, value for the dollar, and client satisfaction. These ensure the best care is available and provided to all Guyanese.

Health facilities are of great importance to the delivery of health care, hence it is critical that they be in proper condition and outfitted with the necessary equipment and manpower to function effectively and efficiently.
The minister also visited the East Ruimveldt Multilateral School, where renovations amounting to $3M were done to its dental room, fulfilling a promise by the Health Ministry earlier in the year. The room is now well ventilated, with an air conditioning unit and fans, is painted, and has a sick bay.
The dental unit within the school not only provides care to the students and teachers, but also caters for residents in the community.
