MAGISTRATE Sueanna Lovell yesterday granted an adjournment of the carnal knowledge case involving television broadcaster Chandra Narine Sharma. The court was informed that special prosecutor Sonia Joseph is currently on leave and the hearing was postponed to December 6.
Defence counsel Vic Puran offered no objection to the postponement.
On April 20, 2009, Magistrate Melissa Robertson refused Sharma bail on the charge which said, between July 23, 2003 and July 23, 2004, he had carnal knowledge of a girl under seven years of age.
But the accused secured pre-trial freedom, on a $2M bond, the following day in another court and the preliminary inquiry is ongoing.
