THE Bartica Table Tennis Tournament which commenced on Sunday at the Modern Hotel Table Tennis Club saw more than 40 entries from the four different categories and it was declared open by sponsors Stephen Belle, Shawn Hopkinson and GTTA representative Linden Johnson.  

The tournament was organised by the Bartica Table Tennis Steering Committee and also sponsored by Deno’s Investment, MM Kassim and Troy Simon.

Yusuf Hinds was victorious in the 15-and-under open category; Shellon Atherly was the champion in the 18-and-under open category; Open singles was won by Conan Belle while the 35-and-over title went to Hugo Domonique.
In the 15-and-under final Hinds defeated Dellon Singh (11-9, 11-8, and 11-9) in a close encounter while Aaron Persaud defeated Alex Hopkinson in the third place showdown.

The 18-and-under final, 13 year-old Atherly sank Hinds 11-7, 11-8 and 11-6 for the win while Kelvin Joseph defeated Hopkinson to take third.

In the Open singles, Conan Belle defeated his father Stephan Belle 11-7, 11-8 and 12-10 while Domonique defeated Garfield Morris for third.

The 35-and-over category saw Domonique defeating Morris 12-10, 16-14 and 11-4 while third place went to Stephen Belle who defeated Shawn Hopkinson.

The presentation of trophies and other incentives was held right after the final matches.
