…face Barbados and Bermuda on Oct. 7 & 11
GUYANA’s flagship football team, ‘Golden Jaguars’ will assemble here for a short camp ahead of their return games in the 2014 FIFA World Cup, Brazil.
The Jaguars have won both their games so far defeating Barbados 2-0 and Bermuda 2-1 both at the National Stadium. Head Coach Jamaal Shabazz has declared that the theme going forward is “Keep Focus As We Strive Forward With Courage And Confidence”, Shabazz notes that playing the respective nation’s in their backyard will not be an easy task and all must keep the focus.
Players from England, USA, Trinidad and Tobago, Suriname and locally based will be part of the camp which will end on Tuesday as the team departs for the Land of the Flying Fish, Barbados, on Wednesday ahead of Friday’s return game against the Bajans.
T&T based Walter ‘Boyd’ Moore and scorer of the double against Bermuda Vurlon Mills were expected in Guyana last evening (Saturday).
Expected today are Captain Christopher Nurse (USA), Ronson Williams (USA), Charles Pollard (T&T) along with England based players Howard Newton, Jake Newton, Alaniani Mounter, Leon Cort and Ricky Shakes and Shawn Beveney..
The other players are Javin Crawford (Suriname), Kayode Mc Kinnon, Richard Reynolds, Ryan Crandon, Travis Grant, Anthony Abrams, Anthony Benfield, Dwayne Jacobs Eusi Phillips and Kris Comacho.
The local based players have been under the guidance of Coaches Wayne ‘Wiggy’ Dover and Andrew Hazel (Goalkeeper).
