Small grant facility to be established

-to address projects such as bio-diversity, climate change adaptation
CABINET has given approval for the establishment of a local office for the Small Grant’s Programme in Guyana.
The financial institution under the global environmental facility which will be managed and administered by the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP), will be responsible for the selection, management and execution of small, community and Non-Governmental projects.
Areas which fall under the project would include bio-diversity, climate change adaptation, international waters, sustainable land management and persistent organic pollution, according to Head of the Presidential Secretariat Dr. Roger Luncheon.
“The Small Grant’s Programme is principally an NGO driven initiative especially with the minor inputs of government and those inputs would deal with the US$750,000 project funding over a three-year cycle,” he said.
