PPP/C Gov’t commitment to Amerindians remains unquestionable

-says HPS as Heritage Month draws to a close
SEPTEMBER, which has been designated ‘Amerindian Heritage Month’ by Government, has since provided opportunities for the celebration, promotion and observance of indigenous peoples, their culture and contributions to Guyana’s rich ethnic diversity.
While the month-long calendar of activities is drawing to a close, Head of the Presidential Secretariat Dr. Luncheon said that during the month, Government officials were fully engaged in exhibiting and appreciating Amerindian cultures as well as their contributions to society.
“Arising from this year’s celebration, Amerindian people and Guyanese would be recognized at the appreciation dinner, performers in Amerindian community particularly from the grade 6 examination, sponsors as well as participants who excel…Cabinet believed that the PPP/C Government[‘s commitment to the indigenous people and their progress in development remains unquestioned.”
Since the administration took office in 1992, huge investments have been made allowing Guyana’s first people to enjoy benefits such as land titles, access to education and employment opportunities in many sectors.
