Neesa Gopaul murder case PI resumes

– new witness takes stand
A NEW witness, Corporal Collin Cole, took the stand when the preliminary inquiry (PI) in the Neesa Gopaul murder case resumed yesterday.
The victim’s mother, Bibi Shareema Gopaul and stepfather, Jarvis Small, are accused of unlawfully killing the former Queen’s College student.
When the case was called before Acting Chief Magistrate Priya Sewnarine-Beharry, taxi driver Ashram Tewari first took the stand and continued with his evidence and was also cross-examined by defence counsel Mr. Vic Puran.
Cole was then called by special prosecutor Prithima Kissoon to give evidence against the two accused and he was also cross-examined by Mr. Puran.

Small and Gopaul were further remanded to prison and the case will be called again on October 4.
Particulars of the joint charge against the two accused stated that between September 24 and October 2, 2010,  the girl’s dead body was recovered at Madewini, along the Soesdyke/Linden Highway.
The corpse was found stuffed in a suitcase in the Madewini Creek near Emerald Tower Resort, battered almost beyond recognition.
