Rasheed and Gonsalves shine for Everest against TSC
THANKS to some miserly spin bowling from Javed Rasheed who took a 10 wicket haul and Troy Gonsalves’ even ton, Everest Cricket Club completed a commanding 10 wickets victory over Transport Sports Club when action in the Georgetown Cricket Association organized Carib Beer/ Friends of Cricket/ Heroes Cup sponsored first division competition continued last weekend. Playing at Camp Road, the home team won the toss and, inviting their guests to take first strike, bowled them out for 117 which was scored off 38.3 overs, with Dwayne Graham (27; 5×4, 1×6)and Keon Morris (20; 3×4) being the lone batsmen to pass 20.
Rasheed took 4 for 31 and received support from Phillip Persaud (3-17) and Gonsalves 2 for 31, before Gonsalves struck 12 fours in his 100 and together with Adrian Singh who made 52 (8×4) , the pair added 94 for the sixth wicket, guiding the home team to 226 for 8 from 55 overs.
Morris and the veteran left arm spinner Kevin Ross ended with three wickets each for 43 and 65 runs respectively for TSC who in their second innings were bowled out for 115 with Devon Nandan topscoring with 35 while he received support from Carl Rambharose who made 32 and Graham 23.
Rasheed scalped six second innings victims for 45 runs to end with match figures of 10 for 76 while Christopher Surat too 3 for 22 for Everest who reached their required total of 7 without losing a wicket.
Action in the tournament will continue this weekend.
