A special congratulation is deservedly due to the organisers of the THANK YOU event to honour this great son of Guyana, President, Dr. Bharrat Jagdeo who has done so much for his people and country.I am very proud that we have people in this country who could come up with this magnificent idea, and people who would make it possible financially. This is again another great opportunity to bring together so many peoples from the farthest areas and near of Guyana to assemble in our beautiful Guyana Cricket Stadium. Bringing people together for celebrations in decency and prayers is always a great achievement and purpose.
If there is a President who truly deserves honours and a grand send-off, it is Dr. Bharrat Jagdeo. He said he was an African, an Indian, an Amerindian, a Chinese, a Portuguese, Mixed Race…..all the peoples of this country, all who suffered forced slavery and migration from their original homelands; those who were assaulted and attacked and lands were taken from them.
He is a President who served all with fervour and love, yet being disciplined. He distributed resources to all villages and townships, walking, boating and even running in love to serve his peoples.
He kept his promise to provide solar electric power to Amerindian villages, to build roads and highways and provide water everywhere, that vision and mission continue and will after he leaves. During his watch, infrastructural construction has been grand. He ensured there were numerous schools, even too many to count immediately, in all regions and every area of need. He kept his promise to get us hydro-electric power, but the failed ones tried every means possible to sabotage the possibilities, but he kept at it. We will have hydro-electricity to turn our turbines, our factories and empower our country.
Yet President Jagdeo, our beloved Excellency, would shed a sweet tear, for he cannot do it all, he cannot supply all the needs immediately, even though he pipelined them. He would breathe a sigh, because, despite all he has done, a few nefarious personalities, failures, national perpetual haters, some being rum mouths posing as politicians, educators, albeit failed, and political failures with grand egos and ambitions would attack him, having nothing else or worthwhile to do, attacking merely for attacking, supposedly fair political commentators becoming biased with conspiracies and choices. Condemning merely for the sake of condemning, trying to gain political points, but to those with thoughts and wisdom, seeing through their conspiracies, they become fools, lost in a dismal place.
It was during his watch the despicable Burnhamite constitution was amended after expensive and numerous hearings. Now they wanted him to amend it again, then what? Again and again! Constitutions are not to be fiddled with at one’s whims and fancies, but must be respected. They want it interfered with so for what again? Over and over for what! Until they win power! Yes, until that.
He said he would construct the Berbice Bridge and he did it with local industries involvement and financing as well. The failed UG scholar said it was ugly. So sorry for him, he needs to look his face in the mirror.
When he was awarded his deserved doctorate by India they mocked him, but he stood still and strong with charisma and the nation rejoiced with joyful tears and celebrations. Yet when he was awarded the second doctorate, his haters went into a frenzy of attacks, trying to humiliate our President, but the majority of Guyanese were proud that our President was awarded and recognized as Champion of the Earth. President, Dr. Bharrat Jagdeo, gave his prize money to the Amerindian communities, how many would do that. Yet the UG educator and warped political commentator criticized our President as the nation continues to laugh at him and some permanent complainants using the educator/commentator, whose name has been ridiculed and urinated on in this country. I dare him that his party can never win an election, never!
As for housing, the opposition must be having nightmares, for those that had the power and opportunity did little. But during Dr. Jagdeo’s terms, he made it possible for peoples who never dreamed of owning lands and a home having the opportunities and others the chance to own homes, even for the young. He made it possible to turn abandoned lands into semi-cities, providing opportunities never before available, with schools, markets, supermarkets and health centres and hospitals, creating businesses, and jobs for many, to the point where labour is hard to get, and skilled people absorbed, yet development continues.
Opportunities for those who dropped out of school, a second and third chance, but, some of which I even disagree, for the social order needs those who were not meant to have higher education to serve in important occupations to keep a society going. Yet, he and his government kept rolling out opportunities in all kinds of vocations. Scholarships and opportunities for the educated to be more educated. Trade schools continue to be built, and he and his government are never tired. The progress continues. Those with eyes open them and see development.
He wants to return the trains that those without vision destroyed and sold for nothing, which were resold hundred times the selling price, and has advised his successors of his visions. He wants expanded and even new highways for the growing and more prosperous citizens as wealth grows.
He has ensured his Government gives lands to farmers and prospective farmers. Investors in all kinds of industries from fishing to agriculture are entertained and given lands and opportunities to create industries and grow food for local consumption and export.
His Excellency said: “Think big; take chances; grow wealth legally and make your lives prosperous and your country one we could be proud of.” Of course, the warped politicians and ego maniacs would mock that too. As if they could ever hope to do better.
I saw recently one Indo-Guyanese politician on television calling for a day of shame. He ought to be ashamed for saying this, for disrespecting none other than the elected, yes elected, President of this country. Dr. Bharrat Jagdeo is not an elected dictator as the educator/UG pest likes to entertain his mentality with, or reach out to his few ‘sickos’ supporters. Had I been that politician calling for a day of shame, I would have been ashamed of the cigarette and rum-drinking mouth, and the stench it produces.
Politics has to be a nasty adversarial arena. Power seekers are dangerous people when bereft of power. Thank God, I am not political. I have had many invitations from various parties, but still the two I respect and can ever support is the PPP and yes the new PNC (not APNU, with its failed political mass, more like the disease lupus).
How much more can I list, people of Guyana look and see. Let’s be proud and celebrate this day with our president, and give thanks to those who have planned his special day.
A deserved thank you, Mr. President
