Defending champs River View launch staunch title defence

DEFENDING champions of the Bartica Zone, Guinness ‘Greatest of the Streets’ competition, River View, launched their title defence with a thorough 5-1 win over Mighty Ruler.

The winners of last year’s inaugural tournament in Region 7, after going behind early in the game, River View had goals courtesy of Shaquille Hopkinson who opened the scoring in the 13th minute, Andel Norton (15th), Romario Lake (17th) and Godfrey Norton with a Guinness Goal in the 20th.

Together they ensured that Mighty Ruler were never a threat.
The lone scorer for Mighty Ruler was Devon Elias in the 11th minute.
Meanwhile in the opening game of the night, Street Kings needled Hard Tackles with the lone goal coming off the boot of Seon Ferrier in the sixth minute.
Almanac Kings then dispatched SML 2-0 with Ricardo Perreira netting a brace in the second and 14th minutes respectively.

The game between Potaro Strikers and Agatash proved to be a 3-2 thriller with the eventual winners Potaro coming from two goals down.
Agatash got proceedings underway with Andrew Simons netting two quick goals in the third and sixth minutes respectively. However, Kurt Spencer hauled one back for Potaro in the seventh minute before Ron Smith struck a double in the 10th and 13th minutes to break Agatash hearts.

Goal Raiders then took on Impact and breezed to a 3-0 win with a Sherwin DaSilva strike in the fifth minute while Brian Browne netted a Guinness Goal in the 19th minute.
In the final game of the night, BLB Squad beat Arcade Lotto 2-0 with Sheldon Kyte and Tevy Stoll scoring a goal apiece in the seventh and 15th minutes respectively.
