Victim found man sleeping in her bedroom with mother’s boots on

TWO men appeared on Monday before a city magistrate on a simple larceny charge. One was sentenced to 24 months imprisonment after he pleaded guilty and the other granted bail in the sum of $70,000.

The court heard that between July 06 and July 8, 2018 at Ketley Street, Charlestown, Paul Narine and Iswan Singh broke and entered into the dwelling house of Onika Stanford and stole two gas cylinders worth $20,000, one radio valued $ $6,000, one electric kettle valued$6,000, one fan valued $11,000 and one DVD player valued $12,000 all totaling $ 55,000.

Forty-year-old Narine pleaded guilty to the charge while 42-year old Singh who resides in Albouystown denied the charge.

According to the facts related in court by the police prosecutor, on July 6, 2018 the victim secured her premises and left the mentioned articles intact and went out. After returning home she discovered her lock broken and when she entered into the house she discovered Narine sleeping in her bed with her mother’s pair of boots on his feet. The matter was reported to the police station, an investigation was carried out and the two men were charged.

Principal Magistrate Judy Latchman sentenced Narine to 24 months imprisonment and bail was granted to Singh in the sum of $70,000. His matter was adjourned to July 30, 2018.
