AN armed 38-year-old man of Castello Housing Scheme, Georgetown, who robbed a business premises at Meten-Meer-Zorg, WCD on Saturday, was captured shortly after committing the crime.

The suspect, who used a bicycle to flee the scene, was valiantly pursued by both the police and public-spirited individuals and was apprehended not far away from the scene of the robbery.

An unlicensed Special Revolver with four live rounds and some of the money stolen from the premises were found in the suspect’s possession.

Ballistic tests will be conducted on the weapon to ascertain if it was used in the commission of other crimes. The suspect is also expected to be placed on identification parades in connection with several armed robberies committed in the division.
