CONCACAF Champions League …

Herediano promise entertaining football in the clash with Alpha tonight
COSTA Rica’s football giants Herediano promise Guyana football fans an exciting and entertaining display of football when they oppose the country’s top side Alpha United in the return match of round one in the 2011 CONCACAF Champions
League at the Guyana National Stadium, tonight.
The actions gets under way at 08:00hrs as the home side set themselves to defend against the side who defeated them 8-0 just over a week ago at the new Costa Rica National Stadium.
Yesterday, a press briefing was held at the Princess Hotel where the head coaches and captains of both sides were present along with representatives of CONCACAF, GFF and president of the host side, Odinga Lumumba.
There was not much Alpha United could have done during practice to be on par or near to the calibre of the Herediano team but Alpha United coach Wayne Dover stated that his side will take an attacking approach.
He said they are still going to be very careful and mindful during their approach as every goal they concede makes the task even harder to win.
The coach of the Costa Rican side, Alejandro Giuntini, stated that Guyana can expect to see good, attacking football come game time. He also said the strengths of the team lie in their consistency and the team’s respect for the ball.
The team, according to Giuntini, is mostly sponsored by private companies and through televising. The players test their opponents in the first half, and after completely identifying their faults prepare to take it to them in the second half and attack very hard.
When Herediano’s manager Cristian Gonzalez spoke about his squad’s approach to the match, he said: “We expect the game to be tough and we know a lot of what we will be up against and since this is our first time here we hope everything goes well.”
