GCA selects squad for Masters Cup

THE Georgetown Cricket Association (GCA) has shortlisted a 22-man squad from which their final 14 will be selected to do battle in the upcoming Hits and Jams Entertainment four-team Twenty20 Masters Cup.
Out of favour West Indies middle order batsman Ramnaresh Sarwan and West Indies T20 all-rounder Christopher Barnwell have been named captain and vice-captain respectively of the GCA team which will be known as the Georgetown Pitbulls for the two-day tournament to be played August 12 and 14 at the Guyana National Stadium.
The three other teams contesting the championship are: Universal DVD Club Berbice Titans, New Line Cavaliers and a Hits and Jams lineup that includes talismanic West Indies opener Christopher Gayle, Dwayne Bravo and Lennox Cush, just to name a few.
Along with Sarwan and Barnwell, the Pitbulls players are asked to report to the Demerara Cricket Club ground at 10:00hrs for a practice game today. Among the names are Dion Ferrier, Steven Jacobs, Kellon Carmichael and the vast-improving Trevon Griffith.
The players are: Ramnaresh Sarwan (captain), Christopher Barnwell (vice-captain), Kellon Carmichael, Trevon Griffith, Steven Jacobs, Dion Ferrier, Derwin Christian, Andre Stoll, Totaram Bishun, Sean De Souza, Robin Bacchus, Jamal Hinckson, David Dick, Pernell London, Jason Heyliger, Kevin Ogle, Joshua Wade, Alvin Castello, Rawle Browne, Charwayne McPherson, Clevon Hyman and Anthony Ifill.
