Bermuda name 14 for ICC tournament in Malaysia

HAMILTON, Bermuda (CMC) – Bermuda on Friday named a 14-man squad for a six-nation ICC World Cricket League Division Four tournament to be held in Malaysia from April 28 to May 6.

Bermuda will face hosts Malaysia as well as Denmark, Uganda, Vanuatu and Jersey with the top two earning promotion to Division Three.

Uganda and Malaysia slipped from Division Three last year while Jersey and the Pacific island nation of Vanuatu earned promotion from Division Five.

Bermuda, to be captained by Terryn Fray with Dion Stovell as his deputy, will open their campaign against Denmark on April 29 at Kuala Lumpur’s Royal Selangor Club.

At 43, all-rounder Janeiro Tucker, a former captain, is the oldest member of the Bermuda squad.

Back in the squad after a five-year break is former captain Stephen Outerbridge, a 34-year-old top order batsman.

Bermuda warmed up for the 50-overs-a-side Malaysia tournament by beating the Cayman Islands and Argentina in friendlies in the longer format of the game after edging the Caymans to lift the ICC World T20 Americas Sub Regional Qualifier tri-series by virtue of a superior run rate in Buenos Aires last month.

SQUAD – Terryn Fray (captain), Dion Stovell (vice-captain), Janeiro Tucker, Steven Bremar, Okera Bascome, Charles Trott, Stephen Outerbridge, Kwasi James, Kamau Leverock, Jacobi Robinson, Macai Simmons, Cejay Outerbridge, Chare Smith, Tre Manders
