Hats off to President Jagdeo

I take my hat off to President Bharrat Jagdeo. He has so much pride in this country that his zeal has become a positive contagion. I am proud of the fact that he is ‘sticking up’ for his people, both personally and internationally. The recent ‘in transit hassling’ in Trinidad and Tobago exemplifies the former; while canvassing for ‘deserted income’ for Guyana’s forest preservation, supports the latter. I now further salute him, for his refusing to even budge, where Akbar Muhamad is concerned. Let me declare, unequivocally too, my regard, or should I say disdain for Akbar Muhamad. I do so by presenting his resume. 1. The house of Akbar Muhammad, the Nation of Islam executive with a criminal record, was raided in 2007 by the FBI.
2. Akbar Muhammad had pleaded guilty, in 2009, to ‘mail fraud’ after having been accused by the US Government of using different names on applications for loans and credits.
3. He was sentenced to five years probation but was allowed to travel. This was authenticated by court records in the United States.
4. In 2007, the Nation of Islam’s Akbar Muhammad (aka Larry 4X Prescott) appeared at a Muslim Alliance in North America (MANA) meeting with Siraj Wahhaj, reportedly “to deliver a passionate speech defending convicted cop killer Jamil Alamin.”

Now with such a soiled history, how can one enter this land of Guyana, and not be closely monitored? After all, no one is above the law of any sovereign state. So the Guyana Police Force was acting within its mandate, when Akbar Muhammad was detained. There is no illegality here. However, I am persuaded that he, Akbar Muhamad, is trying to ‘save face.’

What he does then is to manufacture allegations that he was victimized, and this victimization was on the grounds that he is a Muslim. This is simply untenable. Guyana has too many mosques, grants many hours to the Muslim fraternity to spread the religion of Islam, and allows the free admittance of Muslim missionaries, so Akbar Muhammad is really ‘out of his mind to try this nonsense. Guyana reveres and respects its Muslim community and in no way does the average Guyanese suspect any Muslim of this nation of terrorism, against this state.

So what do I suggest?
First, that Akbar Muhammad decides on one proper name. This will obviate a lot of difficulties. Secondly, that he consider suing the FBI, which invaded his home in the United States. If he gains a ‘finger hold’, then he can sue the Guyana Police Force. I wonder how come his lawyer did not advise these. I guess ‘money talks.’
