Jamaica, T&T grab points in rain-hit Under-15 third round

PORT OF SPAIN, Trinidad, (CMC) – Jamaica and Trinidad and Tobago snatched first innings points on the final day of the rain-ravaged third round in the West Indies Under-15 Championship on Saturday. The first day on Friday was completely washed out, reducing the round to a one-day affair.

At Honeymoon Park, Jamaica made 120 for eight off their 32 overs against Guyana with Ryan Scott top scoring with 32 and Ramaal Lewis getting 25 not out.

Nial Smith took two for 18 and Michel Shalim, two for 28.

In reply, Guyana were restricted to 95 for eight off their 32 overs with Tagnarine Chanderpaul, son of West Indies player Shivnarine Chanderpaul, cracking 37.

At Gilbert Park, Barbados made 89 for seven off 33 overs with opener Lee Gaskin leading the way with 34 while Shane Smith collected three for 18 and Afdal Dean, two for 15.

Wicketkeeper/batsman Nicholas Pooran then scored 20 as T&T replied with 118 for nine off their 33 overs.

For Barbados, Chad Williams claimed five for 47 and Romar Millar, two wickets for two runs.

There was no play at the National Cricket Centre as the Leeward Islands and Windward Islands were forced to settle for three points each.
Meanwhile, in fourth round matches starting today Guyana play Barbados in Honeymoon Park, Jamaica come up against Leeward Islands at Gilbert Park and hosts Trinidad and Tobago come up Windward Islands at NCC.
