Georgetown humiliate East Coast

East Bank defeat West Bank
EAST Coast stumbled to a most humiliating defeat when action in the Guyana Cricket Board (GCB) female Inter-Association competition continued at the Police Sports Complex Ground where they faced tournament power house Georgetown.
Friday  also saw East Bank get the better of their West Bank opponents in another 50-over encounter at the Demerara Cricket Club (DCC) ground.

At the Police Sports Complex ground, Georgetown took first strike and rustled up a mammoth 273–6 in their allotted overs then bowled out the opposition for a paltry 29 runs, winning by a massive 244 runs.
Georgetown’s batting was led by Akasa Thompson who made a sterling 68 with support from teammates Jocelle Joseph, Onika Wallerson and Latoya Smith who made 39, 26 and 20, respectively while extras top-scored with 86.
Kavita Yadram was the top bowler for East Coast as she finished with 2–29 from 10 overs.
In East Coast’s reply, they crumbled in 11 overs as the bowling of Thompson and Joanecice Vansertima, who finished with 3–10 and 2–6, proved too much for them. Yadram top-scored with just 11.
Over at DCC, East Bank batted first and made 177–8 in their 50 overs then were able to stop West Bank on 110 inside 35 overs.
Extras again top-scored as West Bank gave away 58 while Abena Parker scored heavily for East Bank with 62 and she was supported by June Ogle-Thomas with 29.
Gangadia Singh claimed 3–48 from 10 overs while her teammate Zaheeda Sandally finished with 2–33 from 10 overs. West Bank had an unsuccessful chase as Hema Singh and Leanna Harris both grabbed three wickets each to put the opposition in shambles.
Jeanette Daniels and Youlanda Maynard top-scored for West Bank with 19 and 18 respectively while extras played a major part with 41.
