A clear act of betrayal by the WPA

I am appalled that the WPA (Working People’s Alliance) is interpreting candid criticism as the ‘scoring of cheap political points’ when it comes to the Rodney factor within the APNU (A Partnership for National Unity) framework. This is because one of the most obvious points to raise is that of the assassination of Dr. Walter Rodney. So the PPP/C is justified in evoking the memory and values of the erstwhile, founding leader.
I ask that people revisit that period in Guyana’s history (mid 1970s-mid 1980s). The ‘bombing’ of Rodney was done in ‘broad daylight’ and the Burnham-led PNC was most brazen.
I remember how Gregory Smith was ‘hustled away’ and ensconced in French Guiana. Then to add a touch of the jocular, LFS Burnham ‘dished out’ a murder rap on Walter Rodney’s brother, Donald. The fear factor that then ensued all over Guyana, and especially Dr. Rupert Roopnarine and Dr. Clive Thomas virtually sealed WPA ‘death fate’ of the WPA.

The nation was angry, yet quite hapless and helpless. In hindsight, I think that the WPA lost a great opportunity to really make a dent on the PNC, during those ‘dark years’.

However, irrespective of its fear back then, I posit that the WPA would have still been bitter against the PNC.
Alas! This does not seem to be so. In fact, it is appearing as if the very opposite is happening. I get the distinct impression that the WPA is betraying Dr. Walter Rodney. I say this based on simple reasoning.

First, I think of the fact that the PNC, under Burnham, was relentless against the WPA. The PNC, via the ‘House of Israel’ created mayhem for the WPA. The two people who really suffered at its hands were Dr. Rupert Roopnarine and Dr. Clive Thomas. Yet now, under their sway, the WPA is being subsumed by the PNCR in the form of APNU.
When I think of Rodney, this is a clear act of betrayal, collusion and moral crippleness. I am wondering if it is not a case of both WPA and PNCR being so ineffective and approaching moribundity that panic is stepping in.
So when I (or anyone as a matter of fact) get upset, and direct my wrath at the WPA, I am not seeking to ‘score cheap political points.’ I think that my position of quandary demands a statement of reasonable explanation.

I close by asking Dr. Rupert Roopnarine and Dr. Clive Thomas to put themselves in Dr. Rodney’s place and do some serious introspection. You are both ‘comrades in arms’ with a Satanic coterie. Bob Marley’s lyrics from “Who the Cap Fit, Let them Wear it” readily come to mind: “Man to Man is so unjust…You don’t know who to Trust.” And by extension, murderers plus betrayers, to ‘never trust.’
