Emanuel Gregory of East La Penitence, Georgetown, appeared before Acting Chief Magistrate Priya Sewnarine-Beharry on Thursday, charged with simple larceny.
Gregory pleaded not guilty to the offence and particulars stated that on June 24, at Georgetown, he stole one blackberry cellular phone valued $80,000. Police Lance Corporal Jenny Bucker, prosecuting, said that on the day in question, the virtual complainant was walking along Regent Street, Georgetown, when the defendant snatched the phone from her and ran away. She added that a police rank arrested the robber and the phone was found in his possession.
Bail was refused and the man will appear in court on July 5, for trial.
